Most Holy Trinity Church in Newquay
Now that we have a street address we drove right to the church in Newquay for the Ascension Day service. Parking was free and the church was packed. We sang . . . no organ, no printed music, but we had words and everyone knew the songs so we could follow. It’s a really nice church.
Walking down into town from Parking
After church, we drove across Cornwall to Fowey (rhymes with joy) where we found parking at the top of a very high bluff. We hiked a quarter mile straight down into town to scout for lunch. We checked every menu in town and took a few photos. Finally, as is our habit, we returned to the first restaurant where we were told they weren’t serving food today. Thursday?! Good grief. Next, we walked to choice #2 on the harbor at Havener’s Bar & Grill. We got a seat by the window and enjoyed the view as we ate. We got the grilled mackerel and for dessert I got Cornish ice cream and Ed the sticky chewy toffee pudding with ice cream. St. Fimbarrus Church in Fowey
After lunch we walked to St. Fimbarrus Church to explore. Lovely stained glass and an amazing rood screen. Then we visited all the open art galleries we could find. That was fun. Finally we had to face the uphill hike to the car park. Made it . . . although somehow the bench I spotted coming down seemed to have moved much farther up the hill. We were nearly to the car by the time we reached the bench so it hardly seemed worthwhile to stop and enjoy it.

Driving home, the GPS was being weird again so I got out my phone and used Google. That worked perfectly. At home we ran into Gary for a chat as we sat on our patio having a cider. He left and soon Fiona showed up so we had a nice visit with her. Gary said rain is expected tomorrow. If Cornwall is the sunniest place in the UK, we’re wondering what the rest of the trip may hold.
