September 27, 2018 - Driving to Manchester

A wasted day but relaxing and comfortable. We got to the Manchester Airport, much more relaxing then LHR.

September 27, 2018 — Day 24 (Thursday)

Up bright and early, down to breakfast and then finished packing. Ed paid the bill and loaded the car and we were off. Some clouds, but a mostly sunny trip to the Manchester Airport. We found the Car Rental Village and turned in our trusty little Mercedes with its leaky tires. We walked to the shuttle area and I called our hotel to discover shuttles don’t run between noon and three o’clock . . . oops. They cheerfully offered to arrange a driver for us and he appeared in less than ten minutes.

We were soon at our hotel and they checked us in early except we’re in the basement with no view. The bathroom door doesn’t close completely but we have a restaurant reservation and a shuttle booked to the airport in the morning and the room is clean and comfortable.

We had lunch in the bar and I checked into our flight on my phone. Dinner is at 6:00 PM and we must waste the afternoon. Will be glad to get the flight over . We’ll miss seeing Peg when we land but I’m sure she’s enjoying her vacation in Vermont at this time of year. There will be a lot of Fall color in Vermont right now.

Leisurely afternoon doing nothing and a decent but mediocre dinner in the hotel restaurant. Last day . . . last day.
